Things a person living by themselves doesn't want to see when up to step 7 in constructing your new Oxford storage chest from Argos that will provide useful space behind the sofa instead of just dumping things on the floor.

'Get someone else to hold the lid whilst you fasten it to the chest'

Gahhh... All the cardboard, lots of bubble wrap and every telephone directory in the house to the rescue. Only a mild amount of swearing involved.

Actually, it looks good and works rather well. It's solid wood too! I've actually been fairly lucky with various things from Argos, although like Ikea it's somewhere you have to be careful about what you buy, as quite a lot of it really is a bit crap.

Having said that I'm off to Ikea tomorrow to buy cheap cat stuff and possibly a few minor furniture bits. Also need to find some Royal Canin kitten, as despite the fact the Pets@home website says they stock it, they stopped doing so a few months back. gahh..

Wireless doorbell has died too :(. I may be able to solder the dry joints, perhaps (I presume that's the problem). Taking it apart involved breaking the plastic though, so superglue will also be involved..
