The weekend was spent fixing computers, seeing family and reading a few books.

First, computers : I restored the backed up image of my projector computer - this worked pretty well, other than a few MFT errors (which means even though it worked, I'm not entirely confident in using the same package again..). Then, onto the bittorrent box.

Cook, the new bittorrent box, took a little longer. Mainly because most 486s tend to think an 8GB disk is big, never mind 80GB. Suffice it to say this consisted of lots of pain surrounding configuring the VESA Local Bus hard disk controller under NT 4, partitioning and so on.

Useful links/things are :

1) Partition it under DOS, instead of XP via a USB adapter.
2) Jumper settings for 14,876 pre 1999 devices; however, it did not contain the jumper settings for my card. *sigh*.
3) Universal ATA driver for NT 3.51 upwards (this took *ages* to find; it is of course easy when you know the terms to search for..)
4) Remember not to accidentally switch the turbo mode off and make the machine as slow as crap.. oops!

In any case, it's now mostly up and running with µtorrent - a fantastic app. Full featured, and ridiculously small *with* a full web interface! Tonight in addition to finally getting around to watching some Dr. Who, I shall also see if I can get the Hauppauge WinTV Celebrity full length ISA card working for exciting hot Horwich Hill Webcam Action.
